It's a bird it's a plane, no it's another branch in the Ellis family tree. I've waited a few days because I wanted to be able and post a picture along with my note, but my brother and his wife had their first baby last Tuesday. Little Piper Selene Ellis was born in Germany and sadly that's all I know. In my head I can picture a snowy tundra with the lone wail of a newborn child heralding forth the coming of spring and the rebirth of mother earth, but I fear that might be a bit over dramatic. So I'll settle for born healthy and whole on a Tuesday of terrific trembling import.
I'm hoping to be an uncle like no other. Providing the new born with plenty of spoiling and worldly insight. I can't be sure how much I'll be around in these younger years of development, but when and if she needs me I'll answer the call to arms. I'll storm the battlements.... you get the picture. So it's with much joy that I hope our newborn Ellis survives her time of enforced love and mandatory dependence. So that one day she can venture into the great unknown and carve her story out of the life she's given.
And with that I'll leave you with a slightly altered version of my favorite song by Freddie Fender.
Here's to you little Piper:
If it brings you happiness then I wish you all the best
It's your happiness that matters most of all
But if it ever breaks your heart
If the teardrops ever start
I can be there before the next teardrop falls
I'll be there anytime you need me by your side
To dry away every teardrop that you cry
And if it ever leaves you blue
just remember I love you
And I'll be there before the next teardrop falls
I'll be there before the next teardrop falls.

AWW so cute. You'll be a great uncle, and I'm sure you'll spoil Piper adequately with lots of loud instruments that your brother and his wife will simply, ah, adore.
