I usually trust my instincts. I tend to believe that if something doesn't feel right then something isn't right. Sadly I got one of those "bad vibes" today when I was at the house that I'm under contract to buy. I've been to the house a total of three times now, and the first two times I didn't have anything but the usually misgivings about making a commitment and buying a house. But today I had a totally different type of experience.
I pulled up in my truck to do some minor repairs so that we could get through my final inspections and make closing by the end of the month. And right away I sense that something isn't right. I'm already a bit worried because I can tell that the roof hasn't been repaired yet and it's rained all day. This leads me to believe that more then likely I've got some water damage under the shingles. The tricky part is that I can't really tell, because the house doesn't have an accessible crawl space to look at the roof from the inside. I've more or less made my peace with the fact that the roof isn't as good as it could be.
But added to that, today the brand new air condition and heating was stolen from the property. Granted I am not responsible for the unit yet, but it makes me leery about the area if the unit was already stolen and it's only been in there for a week and a half. So at the moment I'm having misgivings about this whole home buying project. But for the time being all I can do is just ride it out.
